Four Weddings and a Fine Time at Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf & Spa

In 1994 the iconic film, Four Weddings and a Funeral was filmed  at the stunning Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf & Spa. This included scenes shot in the original Robert Adam designed ballroom as well as one of the bedroom suites where Hugh Grant is found hiding in a wardrobe. Elite Hotels owns 4 of the country’s grandest hotels including Ashdown Park Hotel & Country Club, Tylney Hall Hotel, The Grand Hotel Eastbourne and Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf & Spa.

Tying in with the Four Weddings theme, a major marketing initiative was developed to generate awareness of the four hotels magnificent setting as wedding venues.

On the 1st March 2104, Luton Hoo hosted a ‘Real Wedding’ event in the mansion house and invited a number of key Editors & Journalists from You & Your Wedding, Perfect Wedding Magazine, Sunday Express Magazine, Marie Claire Magazine, Your Herts & Beds Wedding Magazine and Ultimate Wedding Magazine.

We were honoured to have been invited as one the key recommended suppliers to Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf & Spa to participate in this event. Our brief was that this needed to be photographed as if it was a real wedding, with actors playing the role of Bride & Groom, Mother & Father of the Bride and Mother of the Groom, Bridesmaid and Best Man.

We will leave the story of the day to the journalists, however you can view the event Slideshow here;

Venue Spotlight: Hotel Russell, London

We are really looking forward to this coming Saturday when we will be photographing the wedding of Sarah & John at the Hotel Russell, Russell Square, London.

We had the pleasure of meeting with their Wedding Planner, Samantha last Friday and had the grand tour of the venue. What a stunning location to hold a large wedding reception.

If you are thinking of holding your wedding in central London and need a large venue, then you should check out the Russell Hotel.

Venue Spotlight: Fanhams Hall Hotel

Our latest Wedding Venue spotlight is on Fanhams Hall in Ware, Hertfordshire, where we will have the pleasure of photographing Nicole & Chris’s Wedding on the 27th July 2013.

This luxury and unique wedding venue is outstanding with warming open fires in winter, tumbling waterfalls in summer and beautiful private rooms with stunning features of the original Grade II listed Jacobean manor house all year round. They offer impeccable service in comfortable and relaxed surroundings.

With both formal gardens and rambling grounds, carved staircases and ornate fireplaces, there are a wealth of perfect picture opportunities to enjoy at this country house wedding venue.

An exceptional combination where old tradition meets the 21st century, Fanhams Hall Hotel is a Jacobean Manor House converted into a dedicated training and meeting venue designed to be different. The hotel’s Hertfordshire location is just a short distance from all the major routes into London, Stansted, M1, M25 or simply the A10 just around the corner.

Venue Spotlight: Mangapp Manor

On the 31st August 2013 we have the pleasure of photographing Leanne & Robert’s Wedding at  a brand new venue for us. Mangapp Manor in Burnham on Crouch is located in Essex and yesterday we had the opportunity to meet with the on-site Wedding Planner, Sasha for our site visit.

Mangapp Manor

Mangapp Manor

Wow! what a gem this venue is. It has always been such a surprise and disappointment that so many wedding venues pay such little attention to the colourful backdrops we photographers seek out when capturing beautiful locations on wedding days. They generally think that because the building is so beautiful, thats sufficient. What a difference at Mangapp Manor when you stroll through the grounds and at every turn you see a swathe of floral displays, beautifully manicured gardens and colour as far as the eye can see!

Mangapp Manor

The layout of the house, grounds and marquee are extremely well thought out. The car park is large and completely hidden from the venue. The Ceremony location is situated on a small lake, in the main floral gardens and the marquee is again hidden from the main House & Gardens. So from a photographic perspective, it is just perfect.

Mangapp Manor

Mangapp Manor

Mangapp Manor is owned by Kate and Ben who moved to the house from London in 2005. Initially struck by the beauty of the grounds and the backdrop of the house they saw the potential of the location for a unique and romantic wedding venue.

Organising their own wedding reception at Mangapp Manor in 2006, they had a vision of creating a magical garden setting for wedding celebrations and of using the lake as a feature for outdoor marriage ceremonies held on water.

Based on their own experiences as a bride and groom and of being guests at many other venues in Essex, Kate and Ben attempt to offer a great deal of flexibility to couples planning their weddings matched with reasonable venue pricing. They understand that brides and grooms want to have some control over making their own arrangements for their wedding day whilst all the finer details are taken care of.

Mangapp Manor is a small, family business run by Kate and Ben and a loyal and hardworking team.  Wedding couples are well looked after and given a great deal of personal attention at Mangapp Manor within a relaxed, homely and friendly environment. These qualities are often lacking in larger or more corporate wedding venues. Kate and Ben coordinate all weddings themselves and manage the smooth running of events by both being present throughout the day and evening celebrations, ensuring their high standards are maintained.

Few Essex wedding venues can boast the colour and true spectacle of the grounds at Mangapp Manor during the spring and summer months. Offering outdoor weddings, couples can marry on a floating gazebo in a unique and stunning lake setting. Wedding receptions are held in a beautiful silk lined marquee on the lakeside, surrounded by idyllic gardens.

Mangapp Manor has charming wedding accommodation for couples and their immediate family and friends. There is further luxury accommodation for large numbers of guests very close by to this Essex Wedding Venue. There are ample hotels, pubs and B&Bs within the historic town of Burnham on Crouch, located a mile away.

Destination Spotlight : Paphos, Cyprus

As most of you know, we have been photographing destination weddings in Italy & France for over 7 years now. We love both countries as they offer such a diverse range of options when it comes to beautiful wedding venues, stunning scenery and historical buildings. Having never even visited Cyprus before, it was a great surprise for us to secure 2 weddings in 2013, with UK couples who planned to have their ceremonies in Pahpos, Cyrpus.

The historical sites dotted across the country are delightful to visit and with cheap entrance fees, you do not feel like you are getting the usual rip-off experience as tourists. With so much to do and to see the time just flew by. Thankfully we have another wedding in September, again in Paphos and so we will have the chance to see the areas that we missed on this trip.

Getting Married in Cyprus is a fairly straight forward process and so long as you complete all the paperwork in good time and arrive 3 working days prior to your wedding, there should be no hiccups. The safe season from a weather perspective seems to be similar to Italy & France, April through to October are the best months.  Cyprus enjoys 300 sun days per year!

It does however appear that most couples from the UK that choose Cyprus as their destination wedding, opt to go through travel agents such as Thomson and First Choice. Whilst this is fine for many, the reality is that it can be a very impersonal experience. The Hotels along the seafront in Paphos are massive and most can cater for up to 1500 guests at a time. The consequence of this is that the outside areas are crowded and you will have many bikini clad onlookers at your beach wedding. Most of the hotels have multiple onsite wedding planners and you could be dealing with any or all of them during the planning stage and then on the day someone completely different turns up to manage the day.

When we get involved with a couple planning their destination wedding at an early stage, our goal is to ensue that the whole experience is one to remember, personal and enjoyable. We use our knowledge of the local area to recommend suppliers, activities to break up the day between reception drinks and the wedding breakfast and even arrange for a pre-wed photoshoot in the days leading up to the big day.

Having now spent time exploring, photographing wedding venues, meeting wedding planners and service providers we have a wealth of knowledge that we have been able to pass on to our couple getting married in Paphos in September. So if you are planning your dream wedding destination in Cyprus why not get in touch today!
