Ultimate Visuals

Navigating your way through Wedding industry is all about personal contacts, recommendations and actual experience of venues and suppliers. As Destination Wedding Photographers we work with many videographers both in the UK and Overseas. There is however One organisation that we have worked with, where we share the same approach and desire to capture the day for the Bride & Groom and not focus on what we can get out of the event. So many photographers & videographers think that the Wedding Day is their chance to control and manage events to create and capture the imagery THEY want so that they can promote their business.

Wedding Cuisine to die for – 2012

Food photography is one of our passions, however we do not get many opportunities to indulge ourselves. Except of course when it comes to Weddings…

Photographing at some of the UK, Italy & France top wedding venues means that we do sometimes get the opportunity to photograph the cuisine before guests get stuck in. It is of course a delicate issue as we often have to seek out a guest who is both willing to let us photograph their dinner and is seated discreetly so that we are not interrupting the proceedings. When we do get the chance it is of course fabulous, capturing some of the finest dishes venues prepare for such special days. These are just some of the dishes we have been able to capture from the 2012 wedding season.

Venue Spotlight : St. Mary’s Church, Hitchin

St. Mary’s Church in Hitchin is close to our hearts as not only is our Studio located just behind it in Churchyard, Suzanne used to attend here in her schooldays. We have had the opportunity to photograph numerous weddings here over the years and thoroughly recommend it as a Church Wedding venue.

24x16_Canvas_Hitchin

In 792 AD Offa, King of Mercia, founded a Benedictine monastery on this site. In 910 the monastery was destroyed by fire and the monks moved to the Abbey at St Albans. The second church, mentioned in the Domesday Book, was partly destroyed by a ‘great wind’ in 1115, and an earthquake in 1298.

IMG_1334

The present church dates substantially from the 14th and 15th centuries. The church was originally dedicated to St Andrew, but came to be known as The Church of St Mary due to the powerful and influential Guild of Our Lady founded in the 15th Century.

BMP_065

One of the glories of this church is its many fine roofs and the carvings associated with them. When you walk around the Church don’t forget to look up. Here are 11 things to look out for:

1. The 15th century font. The twelve apostles at it’s base were mutilated by Puritan soldiers in the Civil War.

D7X_8407

2. Above the south door can be seen a priest squint, through which the priest could keep an eye on the events in the church below.

BMP_077

3. Young children will enjoy the animal carvings on the front pew desks.

D7X_8410

4. The 15th Century pulpit has lost its canopy, its ‘wine-glass’ base and its clerk’s desk, but is still very fine to look at.

D7X_8468

5. The Angel Screen is considered one of the finest in the country. On it’s eastern side are the fraternity stalls used by the guild of ‘Our Blessed Lady St Mary the virgin’, dating from the mid-15th century.

IMG_1320

6. Small children will enjoy the mouse, trade mark of the carpenter Thompson of Kilburn in Yorkshire on the end of the altar rail. The family monuments of the Radcliffes of Hitchin Priory adorn the east wall of the chapel.

BMP_087

7. The surviving fragments of the medieval glass that once glorified the whole church can be seen in the traceried heads of the east window.

D7X_8449

8. The entrance to the Charnel House. This was used as a prison by Cromwell’s men. The door, which is original, has a handle with hearts on it, giving us a date when James Herte was vicar.

D7X_8440

9. The eastern portion of the north aisle roof is a fine example of medieval woodwork and is believed to date from the early 14th century.

BMP_194

10. The Processional Cross was given to the church in 1958 and is a fine example of modern craftsmanship.

D7X_8430

11. As you leave the church by the south porch with its medieval door, the sundial can be seen on the south east corner of the tower. It was places there in thanksgiving for the restoration of Charles II. The solid tower houses a peal of 10 bells.

Real Wedding – Paris, France

Many thanks to Monique at French Wedding Style for featuring one of our Destination Weddings.

Classic romantic style for a destination wedding in Paris

Posted in Real Weddings

wedding in parisWelcome to the start of the week and I have some fabulous real weddings this week, starting with Cheryl and Lou’s  classic romantic destination wedding in Paris. Cheryl and Lou’s eyes met over a critically ill patient they were caring for – Cheryl working as a trauma nurse, and Lou an eminent cardiologist. It was through their mutual love of travel and European culture that they decided on Paris for their wedding.

Coming from the Miami heat, the one item they couldn’t guarantee was the weather! This didn’t faze them and, together with their two best friends, and 24 of their closest friends and family, travelled to Paris for their special day.

After some getting-ready shots at the beautiful Renaissance Paris Hotel where they were staying, Cheryl and Lou were taken on a whistle-stop tour of the City so that Destination Wedding Photographers, Belle Momenti, could capture them in all the key locations.

Although a little chilly, the couple were happy to pose for photographs and Cheryl wore her Mother’s fur stole to keep warm. Afterwards, the couple boarded the ‘Paris Iena’ yacht, moored at a quiet spot on the Seine with views of the Eiffel Tower.

The officiant, Arthur Gillette, a US citizen who has lived in Paris for many years and is also a historical tour guide, performed the marriage ceremony, surrounded by their friends and family. In a nod to his Jewish origins, Lou broke a napkin-covered glass in time-honoured fashion.

The couple then relaxed with their guests – enjoying a gentle cruise along the Seine as they dined in style aboard the yacht. The talented ‘Jazz around Midnight’ played well-known hits throughout the evening, in keeping with the party mood. At one point, Cheryl and Lou posed for photographs on the top deck as they passed the Eiffel Tower – such a romantic scene reminiscent of some of Hollywood’s greatest movies!

The bridal party continued their evening at L’arc club – an opulent mix of contemporary and vintage Parisian style – the perfect place to end the night and their stylish yet relaxed wedding celebrations.
